The family members of author Philip K Dick are complaining that the new Nexus One phone infringes on the writer’s sci-fi novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?In the book, a bounty hunter named Rick Deckard is charged with a mission to eliminate rogue “Nexus-6? model androids.

Isa Dick Hackett, a daughter of Dick and the chief executive of Electric Shepherd Productions, an arm of the Dick estate devoted to adapting the late author’s writings, told the Journal’s Nathan Koppel that the connections between the book and the phone are highlighted by the fact that the Nexus One runs on Google’s Android Operating system.

WSJ quotes the relevant description for those who haven’t read the book. Nexus-6 models are portrayed as having brain power that rivals that of humans. One page reads: “The Nexus-6 android types, Rick reflected, surpassed several classes of human specials in terms of intelligence. In other words, androids equipped with the new Nexus-6 brain unit had from a sort of rough, pragmatic, no-nonsense standpoint evolved beyond a major -- but inferior -- segment of mankind. "We must begin by acknowledging the hard truth: We will not eradicate violent conflict in our lifetimes. There will be times when nations -- acting individually or in concert -- will find the use of force not only necessary but morally justified.
I make this statement mindful of what Martin Luther King Jr. said in this same ceremony years ago: "Violence never brings permanent peace. It solves no social problem: it merely creates new and more complicated ones." As someone who stands here as a direct consequence of Dr. King's life work, I am living testimony to the moral force of non-violence. I know there's nothing weak -- nothing passive -- nothing naïve -- in the creed and lives of Gandhi and King.

But as a head of state sworn to protect and defend my nation, I cannot be guided by their examples alone. I face the world as it is, and cannot stand idle in the face of threats to the American people. For make no mistake: Evil does exist in the world. A non-violent movement could not have halted Hitler's armies. Negotiations cannot convince al Qaeda's leaders to lay down their arms. To say that force may sometimes be necessary is not a call to cynicism -- it is a recognition of history; the imperfections of man and the limits of reason.

I raise this point, I begin with this point because in many countries there is a deep ambivalence about military action today, no matter what the cause. And at times, this is joined by a reflexive suspicion of America, the world's sole military superpower.

Drinking eight cups of tea daily might sound crazy as it is too much for some people, but health experts say the intake can help fight heart disease, improve brain power and also boost longevity. Independent dietitian,Dr Carrie Ruxton’s research on caffeine at King’s College, London, saw her review 47 published studies to reach the conclusion that caffeinated drinks such as tea, coffee and cocoa have positive effects on mental function, increasing alertness, feelings of well-being and short-term memory.
Previous studies have already linked the drink’s healthy antioxidant properties and high flavonoid content to preventing heart disease and cutting the risk of some cancers. An optimal intake of 400 mg of caffeine a day leads to key benefits in terms of mental function and heart health.
Drinking four cups of tea or coffee a day also reduced chances of cardiovascular disease. According to news resources the research on about 26,500 middle-aged smokers, which hinted that men who ingested more than two cups of tea a day pulled down the probability of getting a stroke by 20 per cent. People who cut out caffeinated drinks may miss out on the potential health benefits of the compounds they contain.
There is no need to stop children from drinking tea and coffee. In fact, it is better than juice in some regards. Caffeinated drinks have been unfairly demonized. Black tea, in particular, contains poly phenols, which are natural plant antioxidants. These have beneficial effects on many biochemical processes in the body because they protect cells against harmful free radicals. Flavonoids are thought to be especially useful, with a number of studies reporting a link between them and lower risk of heart attack.
